Have you heard the news? There’s a whole new generation of twenty-something’s who the have advantages that their “Baby Boomer” parents were able to provide, plus all the technological advances of the past decade. With the free flow and the wealth of information available in a matter of seconds via the Internet, these new “Millennials” are already being hailed as the "next great generation." In recognition of this new generation, Stührling Original debuted one of its most creative innovations in watchmaking, the Millennia last fall. The series continued with the Millennia 360 in the Spring and now, taking the Millennia Series to another level, Stührling Original is pleased to offer the new Millennia XT! Just like its predecessors, what makes the Millennia XT so tantalizing is its astonishing case. Blanked from solid 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the graceful tonneau-shaped case presents a satin finish on its arched topside forming a handsome frame for the custom-cut curved Krysterna™ crystal. The new XT is considerably larger at a whopping 43-millimeters wide by 46-millimeters tall. The main attraction of the case however remains the high-polished sides which (make a striking contrast to the satin topside and) featuring a triple row of grooves that have been milled directly into the steel! The new Millennia XT delivers a whole new look for the ages. Through the four-piece skeletonized dial, beating (at 21,600 vibrations per hour) in all its glory is the steadfast 20-jewel mechanical self-winding movement, caliber ST-90089. The classic three-hand movement has been drastically skeletonized and continues to feature hand-engraved scroll-work. However, this new Millennia XT takes off where the earlier version left off with a spectacular dial. The main dial has been skeletonized like a spider’s web revealing the inner-workings of its engine in the center and the carbon-fiber covered dial-base. The carbon fiber base and main dial are secured in place by a framed border that is held in place with corner studs. The final piece to the dial is a skeletonized face-plate on the upper portion of the dial secured with stud-like fasteners. The end result is a magnificent web of watch-workings making for a true conversation piece. Complementing the mesmerizing look of the Millennia XT, are diamond-cut, skeletonized, and luminous-tipped hour and minute hands (with a razor-thin second-hand). Even with the web-like dial-plates, the charm of the oscillating balance wheel and rhythmical beat of the pallet fork as it releases power to the drive train are still clearly visible. And just like its forbearer, the final appointment, looking like a double-layer cake, is the double-barreled, knurled-edge crown with a rubber ring around its middle! The Millennia XT features details in the details as even the case has been notched just below the crown to make it a little easier to handle. On its backside, the splendor of the Millennia XT is in full force. Through the screw-down, stainless steel, exhibition case-back the allure continues with a skeletonized and hand-engraved custom rotor. The skeletonized movement is accented by blued steel screws and can be easily viewed through the Krysterna™ crystal. The Millennia XT is appropriately mounted on a 23.5 millimeter wide silky rubber strap for a touch of modern sophistication. Complementing the grooves in the side of the case, the strap sports a handsome grooved rib design and is completed with a stainless steel push-button deployant clasp with the Stührling signature logo emblazoned on the safety lock. In a world that is rapidly changing, the Millennia XT makes for an unconventional timepiece that fuses classic and modern ideas with aesthetic appeal for the ages!
