The idea of “courtly love” came about during the Middle Ages when the idea of romance and chivalry went hand in hand. This was a special kind of love, romantic and passionate, but also unconditional; it was the kind of deep affection a noble knight had for his patron Lady. She was a woman placed on a pedestal, unattainable but the focal point of the young knight’s honor, strength, and conviction. Everything he achieves, he does so in her name through the firm belief that as long as he is in her favor, he will be invincible. This became the inspiration for Stuhrling Original’s Courtly Series. Staying true to the Romance collection, the Courtly and the Courtly la Femme feature a theme of hearts. The very first things you notice are the genuine diamonds set into the stylized heart design on the dial. On the Courtly la Femme, we’ve added thirty-four 1/1mm brilliant round cut diamonds on the ride and left sides of the bezel, bringing the total carat count to 0.35. A more subtle detail is the heart-shaped magnifier on the Krysterna crystal just above the date indicator. On the screw-down case back are more hearts, stylized and free form, which adds an artistic element to the already gorgeous Courtly. Let’s not let the aesthetic beauty of this piece detract from the technical aspects; the Courtly and Courtly la Femme is powered by a Swiss quartz movement with a classic three-hand complication and date indicator. Furthermore, the case is designed with a gentle curve for further comfort and comes mounted on a lizard embossed genuine leather strap.
